Himalayan Rock Salt

Pakistan is home to some of the world's largest and oldest rock salt deposits, with extensive reserves located in the Salt Range of Punjab. The region is particularly renowned for its distinctive pink and white rock salt, sourced from areas including Khewra, Warcha and Kalabagh.

Khewra Salt Mine, located in Jhelum District, is one of Pakistan's most well-known salt mines and is famous for producing pink Himalayan salt. Reportedly, the mine's history is associated with Alexander the Great's campaign in the region and the well-known on account of his army's horses licking salt-bearing rocks.

Today, Pakistan's rock salt is processed into a wide range of products for food, industrial, Livestock, decorative and commercial applications. These include edible white and pink salt, refined table salt, industrial salt, de-icing salt, animal lick salt, salt lamps, tiles, blocks and other value-added products.
